Regulated Leadership
Everything depends on leaders who can think clearly, stay regulated, and make high-quality decisions
Strong camps are built from the top down—and sustained from the front lines up. Regulated Leadership's programs work independently or together to preserve executive function, capacity and positive culture across every level of leadership.
Why Regulated Leadership Matters
In the high-pressure environment of summer camp, the difference between a successful season and burnout is leadership capacity. When leaders operate from a "stress brain" (their limbic system), consequences ripple quickly: decisions become reactive, emotional reactivity spreads, staff morale drifts and leaders can spend more time firefighting than leading.
This is not a motivation problem and this is not about whether a camp is well-run. It's about whether leadership capacity is protected when pressure is highest.
Even the most skilled leaders can feel stretched thin. Neuroscience shows that under high stress, the prefrontal cortex—the brain region behind planning, decision-making, and emotional control—shrinks, reducing decision quality and increasing reactivity.

FAQ

About me
Sarah Silverberg, BSc. Psychology, DSFH, MAfSFH (reg)
I spent over 17 years working in summer camp leadership, shaping staff development, culture, and camper experiences. Over the years, I’ve delivered countless training programs and seen incredible teams grow—but I’ve also noticed something crucial: no matter how much training you deliver, its impact is limited if staff aren’t emotionally regulated and resilient. Since moving back to my native Scotland and training as a solution-focused hypnotherapist, I now integrate neuroscience-backed approaches into my work on a daily basis. This gives me a unique perspective on how leaders can manage stress, make better decisions, and model resilience—skills that ripple out across their teams and the entire camp. That’s why I developed Regulated Leadership. I truly believe that every investment in training, programs, and culture is amplified when leaders are supported to regulate themselves first. When leaders are grounded, they empower their teams, protect campers and resources, and create a culture where everyone can thrive. This program is the culmination of my experience in camps, my training in psychology and hypnotherapy, and my passion for seeing leaders empowered to unlock the full potential of their staff and programs. I’m excited to bring this approach to camps that want their leadership—and everything that depends on it—to thrive.
